Gem G Bar

Confidence works great and smells great.  

Carbon steel blades must be thoroughly dried right after use. I typically leave them out of the razor, because the razor is harder to dry.

The G Bar is mild, like the Flying Wing and the Push Button.  It does the job, but not as close as the Micromatic Open Comb and the Clog Pruf.

Soap Commander has managed to put a cold glass of sweet tea into their luxury shaving soap.  It reminds me of summer days on my grandmother’s front porch.

Just discovered that Catie’s Bubbles is local to me.  My mom grew up at the southern end of the Barnegat Bay, so it was fitting to start with the Barnegat Bay soap.

Gillette Blue Tip Super Speed

Gillette 7 o’clock sharp edge blade (4)

Dad’s birthday. My dad would have been 90 were he still alive.  He never did well with a blade. I think the blue tip was his final attempt at finding a blade that would work for him. The blue tip has the least blade exposure of the super speeds.  

I got a great shave with it. I tip the silo doors to you dad.

Remembering Dad

My first memory of dad shaving was with an electric razor.  He had a Schick. I also remember watching him clean the razor. 

One day, the Schick stopped working and he had to use a  Super Speed.  He had the mildest one, the blue tip, but he cut himself several times.

Next day, he bought a new electric razor, a Norelco.

I have his Super Speed and I will be shaving with it on Tuesday, dad’s birthday.  He would have been 90 this year.
