Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla aftershave
I may be reaching the limit with this blade. The Standard is a great razor. At 96 years, it shaves efficiently. It is, however, very light in weight.

Shave of the Day
September 15, 2013
•Proraso green tub soap
•Kingsley badger brush
•Schick Krona razor
•Personna blade (3)
•Pinaud Clubman
The Personna blades are unmarked, so once they are loaded, I have to remember what they are. These are the Israeli blades with UK packaging.
So far so good. Sharp enough to pair with the Krona.
Clubman for the finish.

•Proraso Green Tub
•Kingsley badger brush
•Gillette Milord razor (1940)
•Gillette Silver Blue blade (1)
•Proraso aftershave
The Schick Krona gave me a very close shave yesterday. Tech smooth even 12 hours later.
This Milord is not the same one I used last time. This one has lost the gold plating. My kind of user grade razor. An easy close shave.
Proraso soap and aftershave. All I need now is a good aria.

iKon Slant Review
Shave of the Day
September 6, 2013
•Proraso Red Tub Soap
•Kingsley badger brush
•iKon Slant razor
•Astra SP blade (8)
•Pinaud Clubman
Last day with the iKon Slant (until next time).
Overall, the Slant is a great razor. It shaves efficiently and generally safely. I did manage a few nicks here and there.
The blade exposure is very small and there is a lot of bend on the blade. As a result, the blade makes more noise than most.
The blade alignment issue is not as serious as I first thought. There is a lot of play when you place the blade on the pins, but if you just pop the blade in and tighten the handle, it seems to align itself.
The head itself is a new twist on the slant design (pun intended). The head appears to be cast or molded. The finish is a bit rougher than the earlier iKon heads. I found the finish to be acceptable.
Just based on my own face and hair growth patterns, I experienced some difficulty getting the hair just under my nose. The head is wide and the blade is deeply recessed. I eventually found a way to get this area.
I got a close shave every time from this razor, but I believe that the Merkur Slant shaves closer.
I would recommend this razor dispite the cost, especially as an example of a unique and modern design.

Shave of the Day
August 23, 2013
•Proraso green tub soap
•Kingsley badger brush
•iKon slant razor (1)
•Astra SP blade (1)
•Proraso aftershave
Lather the Proraso thick. Here comes the long awaited iKon Slant. Still in very short supply the hunt is like the hunt for the Cabbage Patch Doll. I usually don’t participate in the almost futile attempt to snag items in short supply. But, for this one, I calmly placed the order with Bullgoose, and waited for delivery.
Here it is.
My full review will be after a week or so of use, but I can say that it does make a lot of noise as it works and I was ready to shave with it again as soon as I finished the first shave.
The Astra blade seemed like a good first choice since I know its sharpness and Astras perform well in all of my razors.
Proraso start and finish, what could be better?

Gillette Milord Razor
Shave of the Day
August 10, 2013
•Proraso green tub soap
•EverReady boar brush
•Gillette Milord Razor
•Bluebird blade
•Brisk aftershave
Last day for the Milord, and what a great trial for a new (to me) razor. I have no complaints , and could survive with it as my sole razor.
The Bluebird blade performed so well that I probably could get a few more days out of it if I had to.
However, It is time to switch.
The Proraso is always refreshing, and I could use it daily.
Brisk is a Skin Bracer simile, but I find the scent to be even better.
